Township Governance
The State Legislature describes township government as
the one that most efficiently provides services in areas developed for
agricultural, open space, and rural residential purposes. Stillwater Township
is considered an "urban" township, and as such is able to exercise a number
of municipal powers, including regulatory and bonding authority.
The Township is composed of a Town Board, Town Clerk, Planning Commission, Parks
Committee and Communications Committee.

Board
The Town Board of Supervisors consists of five (5) elected members of
equal status and an elected Town Clerk. In Stillwater Township, Supervisors
are elected during the general elections in November, on even years. All
terms are for 4-years.

Appointed Citizen Committees
The Township has appointed citizens
for the Planning Commission, Parks Committee and a Communications
Committee that make recommendations to the Town Board in
their respective areas. There is also an appointed Treasurer, Peace Officer,
and Building Inspector, as well as consultants for legal, engineering
and planning services.
