Not Just for Scientists Anymore: Why the Public Should Care About the Connection Between Groundwater and Lakes, Streams and Wetlands

Thursday - June 6 - 7:00 p.m.
U of MN's: St. Paul Student Center
2017 Buford Ave Falcon Heights, MN

This lecture is sponsored by CBS

Most of the lakes and streams we see all around us are connected to, and dependent on, groundwater.

White Bear Lake's big decline - blamed, in large part, on municipal pumping of groundwater - is evidence of those connections.

Join us Thursday, June 6, for a free public lecture by Don Rosenberry, a U.S. Geological Survey hydrologist.

Rosenberry, who took part in research on White Bear Lake, will deliver a lecture titled Not Just for Scientists Anymore: Why the Public Should Care About the Connection Between Groundwater and Lakes, Streams and Wetlands.

Newsletter 2013 Bituminous Road Maintenance Project

Notice: Regarding street work related to paving of a bituminous overlay on Arcola Trail (from Hwy. 95 to Arcola Ct.), Arcola Court North, 107th Street North and 110th Street North (from Hwy. 95 to 140 feet east of Hwy. 95)

Stillwater Township has hired North Valley, Inc. to pave a bituminous overlay over the existing pavement on the above mentioned streets. This work is paid from the general fund and will not be assessed.

We anticipate that most likely the overlay work will be completed between May 15th and June 15th. Paving is a mobile operation that is typically completed in one day. Access to all homes will remain open during the paving. However, there may be slight delays as the work is completed in front of your home.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

NewsletterSpring Burning Restrictions

Even though much of Minnesota received late season snowfall, fire danger is expected to rapidly increase when the weather warms up, the snow melts and winds dry the dead standing grass and brush in open areas.

Because of that, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is placing burning restrictions over the east-central part of the state beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, for the following counties: Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Pine, Ramsey, Sherburne, Washington and Wright. Additional counties will be added as conditions change.

The burning ban should last for 4-6 weeks depending on weather conditions.
